A Divided Team

As I read this article “Win the battle Lose the War", http://viewingamerica.blogspot.com/2008/04/win-battle-lose-war.html, I finally see someone who agrees with what I have been saying this whole time. This article clearly explains the dividing situation between the two democratic parties. Also by reading her entry you have to ask yourself what will the final vote be in the end if our two democratic candidates remain in this divided attack? I totally agree with Texas Girl. The two democratic nominees have already made history and will defiantly be remembered. But like Texas Girls says it’s how they will be remembered that will make the difference.

Divided Democrats?

As we draw closer to finding our democratic nominee, we Americans have to think about the fight going on between the Democratic Party, Obama and Clinton. Have we been divided against each other as democrats? Do you have Clinton’s back or on Obama’s team for change? But aren’t we all democrats and fight for the same changes? So why can’t we just decide to either fight together or just let one of them win. Both Clinton and Obama want to make good changes in the U.S. that will benefit the people. I mean in their speeches they both say they are fighting for change. So if they are fighting for some of the same things then why is it taking so long for us to decide on a candidate? Yes, they may have some differences in areas, but I think either one of them would be a better candidate then having the Republican Party rule again. Tearing each other apart, like in their commercials and speeches, is just making the Republican Party look more calm and reserved. That just makes the democrats look like the opposite, and who would want to vote for that?

Everyone want's more money!

In an article posted by Bethany A. Thibodeau, http://bethanythibodeau.blogspot.com/2008/03/we-need-more-money.html, I read about her suggestion to raise the Minimum wage to $7.00. Well im not sure if it will solve all the problems we have with gas prices, but why not. The gas prices are really high and I know all the other broke college students can agree. We all could use a few extra dollars in our pay. If people got paid more money then yeah, we might be able to afford more in the society we live in. I doubt that we will ever be the poorest country but I do agree that the minimum wag should be raised!

Team Work

The big choice is coming up and the two leading candidates for the Democratic Party is Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, So why not both? Some people cannot even decide witch one to vote for anyway. If they are both so great then why don’t they decide to work together? They can make change as a team instead of tearing each other down and then neither one would win the presidential race. In Maureen Dowd’s column, http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/26/opinion/26dowd.html?ref=opinion , she speaks to choose “Hillary or nobody.” I ask again, why all or nothing? Each candidate has big goals for the United States. Why not bring Hillary voters and Obama voters together and get this fighting done with? Now the big issue is who would take the back seat? In my opinion it doesn’t really matter. President or vice president, they both work together at the same place. All they have to do is put their differences aside, and make the change they both want. It’s not impossible. It could be done. From reading Dowd’s Column Clinton may be faced with the decision weather or not to take the Vice president spot. She might lose against Obama anyway, so might as well take the opening. I mean when you think about putting pride aside and coming together as a strong team would be a good example for the American public.

Texas counts!

I definitely agree with this article when it says “Texans probably will vote in record numbers today.” For the first time in a long time Texas will actually make a difference in the presidential primary election. From what I have been observing, more and more people are seeing the importance in taking the time to go out and vote. More citizens are actually taking the primary elections serious. There are lots of Texans that would say, “My one vote would not matter anyway”. But minds are changing and people are voting. Not only or people going to vote for the primary, but the turn out in Texas early voting was a big leap from the past years. The race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is so close that the Texas vote does really matter. Obama is actually counting on Texas to get a lead over Clinton. As the article says, “Texas is the biggest of four states holding nominating primaries today.” As well as Obama, Clinton is counting on the Texas vote to get her comeback in the race. I also agree that everyone is in excitement over the democratic side. Both competitors will make history if they win the presidential election. With Clinton being a woman and Obama being an African American man, this election will be a historic event. This could take part in why more and more people are voting this time around.

Not a big deal!

I find Michelle Obama to be a strong, smart, and independent woman. I don’t think that out of one comment that she could be un-American. I think it is great that she supports her husband. And because of one statement she is being criticized of being an ungrateful American citizen. I think Michelle Malkin is being a little too harsh on Michelle Obama. She thinks that Mrs. Obama is not proud of her own country because of a statement she gave in her speech in Milwaukee. Mrs. Obama remarked, “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for a change”. I would have to agree with Barack Obama when he says, “Statements like this are made and people try to take it out of context and make a great big deal out of it, and that isn’t at all what she meant”. I do agree that his wife’s statement was blown out of proportion. I am almost sure that there has been another time when she was proud of her own country. People find small things to make bigger than they really are and judge others for it. Mrs. Obama is a very well educated woman and I am almost positive she is aware of the greatness our country has. So I feel that her wording wasn't a mistake just that she did not intend for people to take it that way. Really, it’s not that big a deal.

Georgia loses major water fight.

This was a major court loss for Georgia. Their plan was to withdraw more water from an Atlanta-area reservoir. Under a pact with the Army Corps of Engineers Georgia was allowed to raise their supply from 13.9 to 22.9 for water storage. The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Said due to not getting congressional approval first, the agreement was void. Most of Northern Georgia already uses about a quarter of the water. For years now Florida and Alabama have had negotiations with Georgia over the right to use more water from Lake Lanier. Atlanta has continuously argued that Georgia has poor water planning. Georgia could appeal the ruling to the United States Supreme Court and come with a better fight. Governor Sonny Perdue is scheduled to sign into law Georgia’s first comprehensive water management plan. Environmental groups have already criticized Georgia’s future plan and suspect problems for millions of people if a drought happens to occur. Dirk Kempthorne, the interior secretary, has pledged to reach an agreement by Feb. 15. I find this article important for others to read because it has to do with the environment. Water plays a very important roll in everyone’s lives and the decision made in this case can affect lots of people.
